Find someone who knows plants, near you.
Ambassadors are students and community members studying horticulture and sustainable agriculture in college. They come through The Pipling Project's own program or a partner program that already supports them, and we stay with them along the way. Hire one for a garden setup, a care visit, a school garden or a hillside that needs to hold through the rains. The work becomes real, paid experience, and they stay with you after the visit.
The fee goes to the ambassador doing the work.
College coursework in horticulture and sustainable agriculture, with field practice in North County.
Mentors, a cohort and a growing portfolio, from a first job to a career.
Questions answered after the visit, and clubs on local issues, backed by science.
How it would work
- It starts with an education. Ambassadors study horticulture or sustainable agriculture in college, and come through The Pipling Project's own program or a partner program that already supports them.
- They're supported the whole way. Mentors from local farms and nurseries, a cohort to learn with, and continuing education. We stay with each ambassador from a first job to a career.
- You describe what you need and choose an ambassador by their studies, experience and portfolio.
- The visit. The ambassador does the work. The Pipling Project takes care of the agreement and payment, so their time goes to the plants.
- After the visit. It goes into their portfolio with your permission. They keep answering your questions and invite you to clubs on the issues that matter where you live.
- Everyone learns. The platform spots patterns in what people ask, so ambassadors get ahead of problems, and the program teaches what the field actually needs.
